| Inward Bound is a specially
designed program that grew out of iDiscoveris six years of research and
experimentation combined with a course project developed at Harvard University. This is
our pioneering contribution to attend to the promise and paradox of an increasingly
inter-connected world. Immerse. Reflect. Construct. Feedback.
Distinct from the traditional forms of teaching and
education, this experiential form of learning will have four principal parts to it:
Immersing Activity. A real, engaging and sometimes
emotional experience that focuses or brings forth the relevant issues.
Personal Reflection. Thoughtful analysis and assessment of the activity and ones
own thoughts, feelings and actions.
Co-construction. Collectively deriving personal meaning from the experience by
sharing reflections and utilizing framing concepts introduced by facilitators.
Productive co-construction requires cultivating and sustaining an emotionally secure
environment in which participants take risks.
Multiple-Feedback. Learning-relevant information derived from a multiplicity of
sources: from each activity, from peers, from facilitators and from ones own
reflections.
Nature is our classroom. The SELF is required reading.
A powerful learning experience seldom takes place without
getting out of ones comfort zone. This journey will provide an encouraging and
emotionally safe environment where experimentation is encouraged. Challenges will be taken
up by choice and participants will be encouraged to explore, test and go beyond their
limits.
An integral part of the program will be a guided travel
experience that will take the participant to the heart of Indias historical
grandeur, complex culture, and natural splendor. Participants will find themselves
experiencing the holy shrines of many ancient religions, trekking through the foothills of
the Himalayas, participating in age-old community traditions, and wading in a crystal
clear lake at 14,500 feet.
Inward Bound is NOT
a guided tour to tourist destinations in
India, or an adventurous vacation in an exotic locale. Neither is it a "self-help
workshop" in a prepackaged theory, nor a crash-course on a foreign culture.
Inward Bound is about YOU Your
Substance, Your Connections.
